bakebakebake [ relax ] | Dec. 22nd, 2009 10:49 am french macarons does anyone have an ALMOST foolproof recipe for french macarons? I know they're pretty hard to make, I was just wondering if anyone here has a recipe they've used that turned out well.
Thanks! 7 comments - write a note

bakebakebake [ justinelouise ] | Dec. 22nd, 2009 01:43 pm Pimped Party Ring First time poster :)......
This month was one of my best friends at universities birthday, and I decided to make it special. She had already seen I had made my boyfriend a birthday cake for his birthday last month, so she hinted what she wanted me to make, not actually thinking I would make it.
and here it is! I kind of wish I also bought some of the regular size party rings to photograph in comparison, but non the less she was extremely grateful and shocked when I walked into our local pub with it to give to her.
Before I tidied up the icing.

bakebakebake [ arrietty ] | Dec. 22nd, 2009 06:53 pm Egg yolks I have a small dilemma. On Christmas Eve I will be making 2 four egg pavlovas for Christmas day.. and yes, you guessed it, what to do with the egg yolks. I'm in New Zealand so I wouldn't be able to use it for anything too hot as it is the middle of the summer here.
I usually make a Gold Cake with four egg yolks, but that is getting a bit old now and I would like to make something a bit different. Preferably in the biscuit or cake line.
Anyone have a recipe or two I could use? Please :) 31 comments - write a note

bakebakebake [ angelps_7 ] | Dec. 21st, 2009 06:10 pm recipe request Hi everyone!
So I went to a holiday party a few days ago, and one woman brought these cookies that I swear are the best cookies I've ever had!...
The taste and texture was like a shortbread cookie, and they were plump and thick, not flat. They had a crumbly texture at first but melted in your mouth. I can definitely taste some cream of tartar in them. ALSO, the best part-- they were topped with buttery sesame seeds before being baked-- a nice salty contrast to the sweet, buttery cookie.
I was so sad the lady left before I got a chance to ask her for the recipe. Does anyone have an idea of what I'm talking about?? I hope so, this community has never failed me before lol =)
Thanks in advance! 3 comments - write a note

bakebakebake [ shoppinggoddess ] | Dec. 22nd, 2009 12:10 am Peppermint Snowballs I tweaked a recipe from Sandra Lee's addition to Food Network's 12 Days of Cookies and came up with something delicious. The original recipe* got terrible reviews, with good reason, but the idea of peppermint sugar cookies really appealed to me so I played with it a bit and came up with this. My mom & I made up plates of several kinds of cookies for friends and neighbors this year, and these were a hit.

( Recipe under the cut. )

bakebakebake [ permastic ] | Dec. 21st, 2009 05:17 pm christmas dog treats Hey everyone! I'm not extremely good at baking but I am looking for Christmas Cookie Recipes for dogs. I looked through the tags but I didn't find any *christmasy* ones. Oh also I was hoping for one preferably without using a cookie cutter.
Thanks! :) 8 comments - write a note

bakebakebake [ candyshowers ] | Dec. 20th, 2009 09:39 pm I'm making sugar cookies for the my cousin's son to frost and decorate on Christmas Eve (the poor dear is the only kid). I never frost cookies, so I'm looking for something that will be easy for him to work with (he's 5), but will still taste delicious and sweet. Any ideas? 16 comments - write a note

bakebakebake [ karstyl ] | Dec. 20th, 2009 03:54 pm Yule log This is my yule log (and my first post here). The button mushrooms are almond paste, the shelf mushrooms are dark chocolate peanut butter cups, the dirt is ground up oreos. The filling is whipped cream with some buttercream frosting folded in, for stiffness, the frosting is chocolate buttercream with some whipped cream folded in for flufflyness. The cake is a standard chocolate roll cake, like the recipes already posted, and available all over online.
